The right fit
Different backgrounds and skill levels are welcome. What matters is showing up prepared, knowing where you fit and treating the crew well.
AKC is small by design: a place for self-sufficient paddlers around Airdrie and Calgary to practise, connect and spend more good days on the water.
AKC is a small Southern Alberta whitewater club built around a simple idea: kayaking is better when you have a good crew at the put-in.
We bring together paddlers from Airdrie, Crossfield, Calgary and the surrounding area for winter pool practice, summer river days and the occasional off-water gathering.
Some members are developing their rolls and freestyle skills. Others have been paddling for years and simply want reliable people to get outside with. What connects us is a love of whitewater, respect for the river and a low-pressure approach to progression.

Different backgrounds and skill levels are welcome. What matters is showing up prepared, knowing where you fit and treating the crew well.
Whether you’re rebuilding a roll or dialling in a loop, skills grow through practice, time and paddling with people who keep the pressure low.
Whitewater requires honest decisions. Every paddler respects the conditions, owns their choices and speaks clearly about what they’re ready for.

AKC is proudly affiliated with the Alberta Whitewater Association. Active AWA membership connects our members to provincial programs, events and the wider whitewater community.
